The 12 Shows of Christmas

It’s mid-October, and after the shock of a blissfully hot September we finally have to start admitting to ourselves that we are edging into winter. Waking up in the dark, braving the wind on the way to work, shivering at your desk and then heading home, once again, in utter darkness. We even sit at home watching our breath freeze because we are too reluctant to put the radiator on…

Of course, for children, winter isn’t like this – it’s sliding on frozen puddles and praying for snow. My personal desperate countdown to Christmas always started straight after my birthday, on October 21st every year. A chubby pink-faced child, I was built for winter; I lived in mittens connected by string through my big blue coat. The second my mum slid my little Michelin Man arms into it, I just could not understand the point of November – Christmas was always so close yet so far. And it was never (just) the presents that made it so exciting, it was the lights, the music, and the electrifying chill in the air.

Unfortunately we grow up, we lose that almost debilitating excitement, and suddenly the months leading up to Christmas are those that fly the fastest. How can we, as adults, take the time to bask in that incredible festive winter atmosphere that only London can offer when we limit ourselves to only one month of festivities?

We need hearty food, we need a warming drink, we need laughter, silliness and celebration. And here at Interactive Theatre International, we have perfect solution – we have 12 performances of 5-star comedy dining show The Wedding Reception to get you through these last months of 2016 by filling your bellies with food and laughter on these long winter nights. In honour of letting yourself feel that childhood anticipation, here’s a sneak peak into what you can expect from this critically acclaimed show in the shape of one my favourite Christmas carols – the 12 days of Christmas.
